Mixed blessings--two days, two doctor visits. Yesterday we met with Mary Jos cardiologist. He had some good suggestions re:diet, exercise, and in general gave us hope that good things are in the mill for her heart. Thats especially true since we have superneighborbonnie to help steer me through the processes and provide nutritious meals to supplement what I can come up with. And lay down the law as an ex Middle School principal can! Today we met with the orthopedic specialist. Removal of the cast revealed a swollen rainbow-colored leg and foot that had reduced little since last week. They took her for x-rays, brought her back, then took her for additional x-rays. I suspected something was amiss. It turns out she has a second broken bone--on the opposite side of the foot. That one they had missed last week. So they re-splinted and wrapped the right limb and told us to come back next Friday. Marys pain is seldom intense and half a pain pill handles that well and enables her to rest well. We will, of course, appreciate your continued prayers and concern. Im sending lots of warm feelings of gratitude and love to this big old tribe of wonderful folks! --Dale
