Mizoram Birds Eye (up to SHU 250,000) This chilli comes from eastern most part of India, bordering Burma. More than 70% population of this state lives in rural area or in forest. This chilli is therefore grown by many natives and used it regularly in the local dish. Just like it’s sister chilli Bhut Jolokia from this region, this one packs punch of heat in it. While it’s not as hot as Bhut Jolokia, nevertheless it’s still very hot at more than 200,000 SHU. The flavour and test of this chilli is very enjoyable. Teja Chilli (SHU 50,000 to 170,000) One of the variety of Guntur Chillie from Andhra Pradesh. Famous for very sharp chilli flavour and very hot at SHU 50000 to 170000. Teja chillies are considered one of the hottest chillies in India. The colour of Teja chilli is dark red & the skin is thick. Those who really want a nice medium hot chilli for regular consumption will love Teja Chilli. Guntur Chilli (SHU 65,000 to 75,000) Again very nice and on the heat scale. This chilli is from the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, it’s cultivated in very dry condition. This gives it more heat than normal chillies have. Famous among many food manufacturer for relative low to medium high heat and a very nice taste. Kashmiri Chilli (Below SHU 12,000) This is a very popular chilli often it is used for its bright red colour, but relatively very low heat has been very difficult to get hold of lately. It’s grown in the Northern most state of India.
