Mißfelder: The elimination of Hamas from the terror list is politically wrong Palestinian organization is primarily responsible for critical situation in the Middle East conflict. On Wednesday the European Court of Justice has instructed the EU to remove the Palestinian organization Hamas from its list of terrorist organizations. On this the foreign policy spokesman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group, Philipp Mißfelder explains: „To remove Hamas from the list of terrorist organizations is politically wrong. The military part of Hamas rightly is on the EU terror list since 2001 and also since 2003 the political part of the organization which has taken control of the Gaza Strip in 2007. The responsibility for the critical situation in the Middle East conflict lies primarily with Hamas. By their acts of violence they threaten not only the state of Israel, but also the peace throughout the Middle East. This was once again very clearly shown by the terrorist attack on the synagogue in Jerusalem last November which the radical Islamist Palestinian group Hamas welcomed as a heroic deed. The Jewish State of Israel is threatened by Hamas in its existence. Hamas should be urged to stop their attacks immediately, dissolve their armory and participate in a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Not only the young people in Israel and Palestine wait for peace to come in order to give them a perspective for their future. The two-state solution remains a clear goal. There is no other way to achieve peace than negotiations. Actions by third parties, such as the removal of Hamas from the list of terrorist organizations, but also an unilateral recognition of Palestine as a state is no basis for negotiations. Especially the issues between the Palestinians and the Jewish state of Israel cannot be solved this way. An unilateral recognition would ultimately even jeopardize the entire political process in the region. It could also be interpreted as a reward in advance, without making real concessions at the negotiating table.“
