Mnetha told me that druing the Aurora Fest, our dog Cali got out and chased a young deer that was in the yard. They chased all over the village, the deer lying down and waiting up any time it got ahead, and ditto the dog. They pretty much exhausted themselves playing. Yesterday I walked her off leash in the Council Tree Meadow, where there was a Grey Fox (or maybe it was just a young coyote) just lying out in the middle sunning. Cali went after it but instead of running off into the woods, it just played with her for a while, running around and around, then finally into the woods ... re emerging a minute later to leave Cali still fumbling around in there. We shall return this afternoon. Here is the video I took of the incident. I have seen this fearless behavior from coyotes before, but dont think I will ever trust one .... never trust two.
