Moab Red Hot 55k/33k February 15th 2014 Presidents Day Weekend Registration Opens July 15th 2013 Each event hosted by GrassRoots Events is inspired and influenced by an experience(s) in my life. The Red Hot is no different. A few winters back, I was running Steel Bender with Ian Torrence, an accomplished ultra runner and great friend. Throughout the run I found myself captivated by snow-covered sandstone spires. It was a sunny winter day and with the sun’s rays striking the snow-covered spires I immediately thought of hot embers glowing. This wintery run eventually became the inspiration for the Red Hot. I immediately envisioned a steady stream of runners experiencing the awe-inspiring views Ian and I had just experienced. When designing the Red Hot, I wanted to ensure the event would be one that pulled runners back year after year. I also wanted the race to be fun, one in which runners brought friends and family with them. With 2014 being the 8th annual Red Hot, I think it’s safe to say the race has exceeded all of my expectations and I hope it has the same effect for you, the runner.
