Mock Public Referendum on Crimea Euromaidan Ottawa will be holding a public mock referendum in OTTAWA, on SUNDAY, MARCH 16th, marking the illegitimate secession “referendum” being staged on the same day in Crimea under Russian military occupation: What: Mock Public Referendum on Crimea. Attendees will be casting their own ballots (which will not be particularly fair, free or private), and will be encouraged to vote multiple times. All voters voting “properly” will be generously compensated for their “patriotism” to Imperialist Russia. Unidentified people in fatigues will be present to oversee and ensure the process for “fairness” and outcome. When: Sunday, March 16th, 2014 at 2:00PM – 3:00PM (ET) Where: Outside the Embassy of the Russian Federation, on 285 Charlotte Street. Why: On March 16th, citizens of Crimea will be subject to an illegal referendum on secession. The referendum contravenes Ukraine’s Constitution and multiple international laws. The “referendum” is also being held under illegal Russian military occupation, in an environment rife with intimidation, no free media, and bereft of virtually all internationally accepted mechanisms for a free and fair electoral process. Euromaidan Ottawa’s dramatised mock referendum seeks to build awareness of this flagrant abuse of process and act of international aggression by the Kremlin.
