Modern Educational Academy The English Department The art of dealing with misbehaving students - A misbehaving student is simply a student who wants to show his talents to draw attention: teach him/her how to gain the respect and admiration of others around him /her in the right way. - A misbehaving student might have had some deep suffering which he tries to express in this unacceptable manner: approach him/her gently to understand him/her and to extend him/her a helping hand that takes them beyond their suffering. - A misbehaving student, at the peak of your anger, is in dire need of your compassion, not your punishment, so try to change your attitude and the way you handle this matter, and you will feel the difference yourself. - In case there is a misbehaving student (please for your and his/her sake): avoid dealing with them before their colleagues, and do not admonish or discuss matters with them in front of the others , when it is expected they might take pride in their sin, and revel you more. - Deal with the trouble maker outside the classroom and tell him/her your feedback: blame, propose, and put the alternatives. Listen to what he/she has got to say without any psychological pressure in the presence of others. - A misbehaving student’s personality ( in front of his friends) is completely different than when you are talking privately with him/her. Give them part of your time to your advantage and your best interests and the interest of his colleagues so as not to hinder the lesson. - A problematic student in each class should be treated as a new student to help him open a new chapter in his life and forget his past, as if you’re saying: I forgot everything, and you should do the same. You can assign appropriate tasks to occupy him and release his energy. - When you meet a misbehaving student for a cordial handshake, do not do that in a hurry. Speak to him quietly and with compassion as a parent. - The secret of the prestige of the teacher is being interested in own appearance, but with sobriety as exaggeration does not call for respect and it might trigger a lot of contempt. - If subjected to provocation by a misbehaving student, do not respond and do not descend to his level and ignore some of his slips to keep your status intact. - If the trouble maker provokes you, make sure not to solve it now, and do not resolve it while you are angry. - You will have already broken your prestige if you send the naughty student to the school administration. It looks like you are saying: you are stronger than me, so go to strong people like you to deal with you! - A misbehaving student place is the classroom, so do not expel him out of class anyway; if you throw him away, that means he has defeated you, and if you expel yourself out of your classroom this will be considered as something scandalous and disastrous!!! - It is unfair if your anger makes you penalize all the class or label them as being all misbehaving just because one or two have misbehaved.
