Mods if this isnt allowed then please feel free to let me know and Ill gladly delete it. ***To all those in the local Huntsville and surrounding areas, please take a minute to read this post and pass it on to others.*** I dont know if this is common and being done elsewhere, but today Maranda and I were exciting the Walmart in Decatur and a man approached me as I was putting Lily in her car seat. He said he was seeking donations in support of his brother and other soldiers deployed to Afghanistan. The idea was to collect money to send them care packages in hopes of reducing suicide rates... He obviously wasnt too intelligent as he said that he deliberately targeted me because he knew that I was active duty or was once active duty. This will make more sense as to why hes clearly not intelligent. He handed me a flyer that supposedly explains about this organization and what they do but something caught my eye immediately and it was the only thing I read. This flyer says that the soldiers are located at Camp Hope, Camp Candlelight, and Camp Freedom. When I asked him where these were he said that they were the three main bases in Afghanistan, where the most troops were. For those of you reading this who have been to Afghanistan youre spidey senses are probably kicking in like mine did. I immediately said to him this is a scam, these arent real bases! and the man offered no argument and I confiscated his flyer and he just walked away and started weaving his way through the parking aisles where Im assuming he was looking for new targets and a new flyer. This might be a scam that is done in other locations and outside of our local community but if you would all share and spread the word along to others it can lower the odds that people will be naive enough to fall for this obvious scam.
