Mohammad Rafi Sahib had the capacity and capability to raise his voice to a very high pitch so most of his songs were very high pitched. When Chinese premier Chou En Lai came to India, Idrees (I am not sure about his first name) Dehlvi - owner editor of Delhi based ‘SHAMA’ Urdu magazine - wrote an article in ‘SHAMA’ labeling Mohd. Rafi as ‘Cheekhoo (screaming) En Lai’ Presently Kailas Kher can also raise his voice to a very high pitch, so most of his songs are high pitched whether required as per situation or not. Recently Chinese president Xi Jinping was on an official visit to India. So in the same vein as Idrees Dehlvi it won’t be inappropriate to label Kailash as ‘Cheekhoo KherPing.’ Ustad Nasir Ahmed Khan of Delhi Gharana often said that singing is not about showing your Riaz (practice) or your capability but should be sweet sounding (full of Rasa) that gives you sukoon and is pleasant to hear.
