Mojomatic Band of Asheville, NC, will perform a concert of blues, rock and a touch of jazz on Saturday, November 23, at 7:00 pm. Immediately following the one-hour concert, there will be a meet and greet reception for the musicians and the exhibiting artist, Vickie S. Beck, in the lobby. Both the concert and the reception are free of charge and the public is cordially invited. This program received support from the NC Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources. Band members include Lee Devico on guitar, Butch Giusto on keyboard and vocals, Bill Chatoney on drums and percussion and Dave Erickson on bass and vocals. Before forming Mojomatic each musician toured throughout the United States and several of them abroad sharing the stage and opening for many well-known musicians during their 20 to 40-year performance careers. Beck is a graphic artist, acrylic painter, basket-maker and former gallery owner who is native of Western North Carolin and makes her home in Haywood County. She paints mostly in her studio from her own photographic references and especially enjoys painting landscapes, flowers and still lifes. She enjoys doing commissioned paintings of old home places and making custom baskets to specifications. Beck uses old basket patterns and patterns she designs for her basket weaving. In addition she dyes her own reed, does old basket repair and teaches basket-making classes and workshops. Her baskets and paintings will be on display and for sale at Swain County Center for the Arts from November 21 to January 20.
