Mokwugo Okoye was the Secretary-General of the Zikist Movement which played a prominent role in the achievement of Nigerian independence. Detribalized, bold, forthright, and incorruptible, he believed in one Nigeria and proffered policies that would make Nigeria great: equitable distribution of wealth, free education and medical services for all, investments in agriculture and industries, and accountability. Mokwugo Okoye was a socialist, a philosopher, a historian and prolific writer. His many books include African Responses, The Growth of Nations, Points of Discord, The Beard of Prometheus, Storms on the Niger, Glimpses of Wisdom, Embattled Men, and A Letter to Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe. - Ifeoma Okoye
