Mom here. I need to post a little rant. Thank you for indulging me. I cant count the number of times that people ask/suggest/demand that Best Friends help a dog, or group of dogs, each time I post an article about a fight bust. Best Friends is a Sanctuary of last resort. They care for 1700 animals. They can not take every abused animal. There are many rescues around the country experienced in helping victimized dogs recover. Yes, BF did a lot of good working with the Vicktory Dogs. But there were also several other rescue organizations who took in dogs rescued from MV who did great work. BF took in the 22 most traumatized dogs, the ones that needed a long time to recover, and a place where they could live out their lives if adoption was not possible. Each of these organizations took in one or more dog, a dog which they were best equipped to help: Our Pack Georgia SPCA Best Friends Animal Society BAD RAP Richmond Animal League SPCA of Monterey County Animal Rescue of Tidewater Recycled Love Since 2007, many other rescued have emerged and developed and are able to help victims of abuse recover. I cant even guess how many organizations have been involved in helping the #367 pups. I write this, not because I have anything but the greatest respect for Best Friends, but because they can not do it alone. They can not take every animal in need, nor should they be expect to. - rachel
