Mom, my sister and her husband and I spent Thanksgiving at the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center ER. Mom was blowing leaves off the driveway when she tripped over the extension cord and fell. She hit her head against the concrete and suffered a mild concussion. Her elbow is scraped, and her hip is swollen. Shes also experiencing sciatica-like pain in her lower back. Thank God the X-rays revealed no breaks in her hip or spine, and a CAT scan of her head revealed no bleeding in the cranium. Surprisingly, the doctors didnt prescribe any paid meds or muscle relaxers despite their prediction she would be might sore this weekend. My sister is staying with her through Sunday. With luck the worst will be over by then and she can get back to normal, though I really wonder if it isnt time for me to move in. She lost her cell phone, and she misplaced the charge cable for the Great Call button, so she has no way to signal for help. Today a neighbor down the street happened to be outside and heard her yelling; otherwise, she would have lain in the driveway until one of us came over.
