Moment for Meditation - October 14, 2014 The Good News About Gutters Home ownership has its privileges. It also has it problems. When something breaks, you have to fix it, or pay lots of money to have it fixed or, you can ignore it until the problem becomes bigger. This time of year, when the season changes from cool and wet to cold and snowy, our roofs and gutters become the focus of our attention. We check them both to make sure we dont have to deal with them when there is a great deal of snow on top of them. I was looking at my gutters the other day, one of them is loose. I stared at it for a while, wondering what happened to it. I looked inside of it and it was clean. Thank goodness for that. Then I wondered what the point of having gutters was and where did the stuff go? All of the leaves, pine needles, branches, dirt and dust that falls on the roof goes into the gutter. The gutter keeps the stuff from falling on everything around your house and ushers it into the ground, all while keeping it from being seen as it travels. When the Blood of Jesus washes us, It takes all of the worlds dirt and buries it where cant be seen. It keeps the dirt from falling on the people around us as well. So, unless you are in a position to truly look down on others, you cant see their dirt. You cant see the dirt falling off others because it is covered, nor can you tell where it went; unless you make it your lifes work trying to dig up the underground gutter. You will not see what another person is carrying around though. What you will see is what God did for them. My prayer for today is, Father, thank You for what youve done for us. Our sins are forgiven and removed. Amen.
