Moms, dads, players and officials all needed warm rainwear, Saturday, for the first softball tournament of the 2014 season at Nashville City Park. The sanctioned tournament was a part of the annual March for the Parks event. This year was a special fund-raiser to build a pavilion on the Ronny K. Woods Wildlife Trail, a structure to be built with local volunteer labor and named for a revered deceased city park commission member. Part of the attraction was a raffle drawing. Prize winners included: A flatscreen television set donated by Walmart, and won by Jonathan Canaday. A backpack blower donated by D&J Equipment Supply, and won by B. Hobbs. A gun safe donated by R&J Supply, and won by Jim Carlton. A ladder and tools donated by Wholesale Electric Supply, and won by Deborah Marshall. Parks and recreation director Nikki Cherry said that the event raised more than $5,000.
