Mon 8th Sep - Jonathan Groves writes: The Learn2Serve teaching team of Connex Ijalasi, Gift Mphongolo, Anthony Masala and myself made a good start today teaching the Level 1 Encounter Seminar at Luchenza near Thyolo. 42 church leaders registered on the first morning, many being pastors of newly planted African-initiated churches around the area and a few pastors wives. First thing, we offered to loan Bibles to anyone did not have a Bible of their own. All 24 Bibles we had with us were distributed, and perhaps one or two were still sharing. We started teaching with my exposition of Psalm 139 encountering God the Father. After a short comfort break, I led an interactive teaching session on Who is Jesus? from Mark 1-2, followed by Connex speaking on Abrahams encounter with God from Genesis 12 until lunch. At the end of his thoroughly biblical talk, 12-15 people wanted to commit - or perhaps recommit - their lives to Christ. After a light lunch, Gift led a powerful session on encountering the Church, which challenged many peoples (mis)understanding of the Church and their pesonal motives for being in church leadership.
