Monarch in our yard near Lake Travis yesterday, nectaring on milkweed. I keep thinking they will move on, but they are still here. So many Monarchs here in Hudson Bend this October. Really a thrill to see these magnificent butterflies! By the way, As an experiment this fall, I put five Monarch little caterpillars in a big screened cage with several milkweed plants. Four made chrysalises. One just died. One chrysalis was predated and three were still hanging there. Today, a beautiful Monarch emerged! Opened the door and he happily flew off!!! Two more to go!!
