Monday 12th August Sleep in until 0730 at Cowell c/park because the ferry does not leave until midday from Lucky Bay. Very windy overnight but tent stayed intact because we were put in a very sheltered spot by the park manager - thank you. So windy in fact that one of the workers at the park said that his small dog was very spooked & he had to retrieve him from under the house through the slats in the early hours. After a leisurely breakfast for a change in the tent annex in front of the little heater, which dried my damp clothing from yesterday, the day turned out to be beautiful with a clear blue sky. Short ride of 17 kms to Lucky Bay to catch the midday ferry. Wind right behind me & strong so arrived well & truly early at 1000, Michael coming in behind me as he stopped in Cowell to have another look at old machinery & steam engines at the museum. The Aurora 5 ferry on time & quick to load. 2 hr trip with very comfortable amenities. Goodbye to the Eyre Peninsula which we enjoyed immensely. Gentle rolling swell across Spencer Gulf to Wallaroo on the York Peninsula. Wind was aiding me so another 60 kms to Port Wakefield leaving Wallaroo at 1430 & arriving PW at 1615. Green grain crops continue with silos. Undulating terrain but steadily climbing & a huge downhill run back to the coast with a magnificent view before the descent.
