Monday, 25 August 2014. SEEDS OF DESTINY. DEFENDING THE NAME OF GOD BY DEDICATION SCRIPTURE: Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. Dan 6:10 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Dedication is existence with the mentality of defending the Name of God. Dedication to God is an incurable addiction to spiritual responsibilities and discipline. That is, you are incurably addicted to your prayer life, prayer time and the study of the Word of God. Dedication to God means that when it is time to pray, your phone must be switched off; when it is time to study the Word, business is cancelled and when it is time to meet with God in fellowship, every appointment must wait. Dedication is existence with the mentality of defending the Name of God. That is, moving with the mentality that ‘People know that I am a Christian in this office. I cannot pull down the Name of God. I am too dedicated to God to bring reproach to God here.’ That was what Daniel did because in Babylon, they knew that Daniel could not bring reproach to God; he could not be blamed because he was a servant of God. In your compound where you live, have the mentality that says, ‘I am a child of God. I cannot bring down the Name of God with my behaviour.’ There are some married couples that neighbours always have to step in to ‘separate’ their fight. There are even some born again brothers, filled with the Holy Ghost, and are also workers in the Church, that would slap their wives to the extent that neighbours would come and tell them, ‘It is enough, don’t beat her again.’ Imagine unbelievers who don’t go to Church coming to settle quarrel or stop fight between believer-couples!! Existing with the mentality of defending the Name of God is dedication to God. Remember this: dedication is existence with the mentality of defending the Name of God. ASSIGNMENTS: Have an incurable, rigid prayer and Word study schedule to help increase your level of dedication to God. In your neighbourhood and wherever you may be, portray the character that will lift up the Name of the Lord and not bring it down.
