Monday, December 8, 2014 Wake Up Call Scripture - “Wake up, wake up; put on your strength, Zion! Put on your beautiful garments, Jerusalem, the Holy City! For the uncircumcised and the unclean will no longer enter you. Stand up, shake the dust off yourself! Take your seat, Jerusalem. Remove the bonds from your neck, captive Daughter Zion.” Therefore My people will know My name; therefore they will know on that day that I am He who says: Here I am.” How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the herald, who proclaims peace, who brings news of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns! ” (Isaiah 52:1-2, 6-7 HCSB) Observation - For the second time in the space of two chapters (see yesterdays post), God says, wake up! - Be fully conscious of who I am to you! This waking up involves two things: taking off and putting on. Before I can put on my Strength, I must cast off my human ability; before I can wear the beautiful garments of godliness, I must shake off the dust of self-dependence. These are the bonds that must be removed from my neck; these are the blinders that keep me in a stupor. But when they are taken away, I am left with a wonderful clarity to walk in - the good news that says: Your God reigns! When I know that, everything falls into place; when I know that, nothing else matters! Application - What uncircumcised, unclean thoughts, attitudes, or opinions do I need to shake off and remove, so that I can be fully awake to God? Prayer - O Lord who rouses me, awaken me again to the reality of who You ARE! I lay aside the dust of human power and the bonds of human understanding. May I be captivated by nothing but You! I receive the words of the herald today; I confess the declaration of the messenger: God Reigns! Amen, I agree.
