Monday Evening:: November 24, 2014 ::: Attention Friends and Neighbors:: I want to be very clear on this so there will be no more discussion or question on the subject:: Our group will be going on hiatus starting Dec 1 and will not be accepting any further requests nor facilitating any needs for the remainder of the winter. The reason for this , as stated several times over the past month, is because it is dangerous for me and our volunteers to drive /walk / carry on icy roads, sidewalks, stairs , etc. For some reason, this message is not penetrating the psyche of some of our members. Either you dont believe me or you think I am kidding because you continue to make requests and in some cases DEMANDS of me and this group. NOT COOL PEOPLE !! We realize that winter is a touch time for everyone. We know Christmas is coming and many people cannot give their children expensive gifts or in some cases , any gifts at all. We are sorry to hear this but the fact remains that we will not be filling your needs on the Christmas season !!! We help our friends and neighbors for most of the year and do a very good job relieving many pressures that are faced by many people. We fill basic needs that otherwise would go unfulfilled. Beds, clothing, blankets, pots, etc etc etc. Things that are needed to get along in life. We do this with brotherly love in our hearts and a smile on our lips. We judge no one and ask few questions. BUT, make no mistake, we are NOT Santa ! Christmas has been coming all year long, you knew it, I know it, we all know it is coming. Therefore please do not come to me now or 2 days before Christmas and be all like I have nothing to give my kids!! ..........You still have time !! Make the best Christmas you can with what you have . Sacrifice a bit, do without a pack of cigs or that next tattoo, collect some deposit bottles or find a way to make a few bucks shoveling snow (we will have plenty). I did those things, so did my parents and so can you !! I firmly believe that where there is a will there is a way and although our group is proud and happy to help everyone when we can , I am a firm believer in the theory God helps those who help themselves . Give it a try ! You might like it ! Please heed my words here Friends. I will be posting again for Thanksgiving and up until Dec 1. Talk to you again soon !
