Monday January 12 This morning began with a walk in an area very near to my home. Dooley and I stopped to gaze down toward Kokokahi YWCA and Coconut Island floating serenely in Kaneohe Bay. In 1937, Rev. Theodore Richards named this area Kokokahi. Koko means blood, and kahi means one, so this areas name means one blood, which signifies that all races have similar blood, and are therefore equal. In our HulaStudio magazine, we will explore legendary places like Kokokahi, because these places are the connection to our unique Hawaiian culture and history, and I am excited to share it with you! Aloha, Kanoe
