Monday, July 15 MEMORIAL OF BONAVENTURE, BISHOP, DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH Follow the Master Even though Saint Bonaventure was a cardinal and became a doctor of the church, he never lost his admiration for the simplicity of his Holy Father, Saint Francis of Assisi. “In beautiful things Saint Francis saw Beauty itself,” Bonaventure said, “and through [God’s] vestiges imprinted on creation he followed his Beloved everywhere, making from all things a ladder by which he could climb up and embrace Him who is utterly desirable.
