Monday, June 17 God keeps us stretching Offering no resistance to evil, turning the other cheek, giving to anyone who asks—OK, maybe once in a while, but this kind of teaching is beyond most of us most of the time. Jesus must have known that when he challenged us—after all, he knows us better than we know ourselves. Perhaps he gave us these difficult challenges to help us guard against complacency lest we begin to believe our own press. Thanks to these teachings, we always have something more to strive for, something greater to aspire to. Keep stretching.
