Monday, March 17, 2014 On Friday afternoon, March 14, 2014 we found out that the judge that heard our “bid protest” case ruled in favor of the United States Government. This means that we will no longer be operating the Jordan Pond House, the Jordan Pond Gift Shop, the Cadillac Mountain Gift Shop, or the Thunder Hole Gift Shop. The Acadia Corporation has an 80 year history of operating the concessions in Acadia National Park and we will badly miss that association. We loved the Jordan Pond House and we were proud of the job we did serving Acadia’s visitors and providing a positive work environment for thousands of employees over many years. We would like to say thank you to all those visitors and colleagues. We especially want to thank everyone who has supported us in what has been a very difficult time. The support we have received from so many of our former colleagues, our customers, our suppliers, and the Mount Desert community has kept us going. The Acadia Corporation will continue to operate its retail stores in Bar Harbor and we hope to see many of you there this season. Some of our management team will be working at the Jordan Pond House and the park stores this season for the newly selected operator. We wish those colleagues well; we care about them, and hope they can successfully retain the essential elements of the Jordan Pond experience for themselves and for Acadia’s visitors. MD
