Winds ESE at 5 to 10 mph. ----------------------------------------------- A 28-year-old man who was visiting students is dead after apparently shooting himself near the railroad tracks on Central Michigan’s University’s campus early Saturday morning. CMU police responded within two minutes to a 911 call for a man who shot himself on Hopkins Court, according to a press release from the university. Police determined during their initial investigation that the fatal gunshot wound was self-inflicted, according to the release. CMU Police confirmed the man was not a CMU student, but was visiting students who live on campus. --------------------------------------------- Two people are behind bars and another is hospitalized after trying to rob someone outside the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort. A Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe spokesman says the attempted robbery happened around 8:00 a.m. Saturday. One of the three people was taken to a Lansing hospital for treatment of a self-inflicted injury, but the spokesman didnt say what type of injury the person suffered. ------------------------------------------ AAA Michigan says gasoline prices have increased about 3 cents a gallon in the last week. The auto club says the average price per gallon of self-serve regular unleaded gasoline was $3 on Sunday. Thats about 22 cents less than it was one year ago. ------------------------------------------- Matthew Staffords touchdown pass to Theo Riddick with 29 seconds remaining lifted the Detroit Lions to a 20-16 victory over the Miami Dolphins yesterday. Calvin Johnson had 113 yards receiving and caught a touchdown in his first game back from an ankle injury. The Lions won their fourth straight game to improve to 7-2 on the season.
