Have your say in your heart, upon your bed, and keep silent.—Ps. 4:4. 17 David’s trust in God is clear from the words: “So take knowledge that Jehovah will certainly distinguish his loyal one; Jehovah himself will hear when I call to him.” (Ps. 4:3) Courage and complete trust in Jehovah are required in order to remain loyal to him. For instance, these qualities are needed by a Christian family when an unrepentant relative is disfellowshipped. God honors those loyal to him and his ways. In turn, loyalty and complete trust in Jehovah promote joy among his people.—Ps. 84:11, 12. 18 What if someone says or does things that upset us? We can remain joyful if we do what David says: “Be agitated, but do not sin. Have your say in your heart, upon your bed, and keep silent.” (Ps. 4:4) If we have been the object of unkind words or actions, let us not sin by retaliating. (Rom. 12:17-19) We can have our say in our heart while in bed. If we pray about the matter, we may see it in a different light and be moved to forgive out of love. (1 Pet. 4:8) Noteworthy in this regard is the apostle Paul’s counsel, apparently based on Psalm 4:4: “Be wrathful, and yet do not sin; let the sun not set with you in a provoked state, neither allow place for the Devil.”—Eph. 4:26, 27. Psalm 4:3 So take knowledge that Jehovah will certainly distinguish his loyal one; Jehovah himself will hear when I call to him. Digan lo que quieran en su corazón, sobre su cama, y callen (Sal. 4:4). 17 David vuelve a dejar muy clara su confianza en Dios: “Por tanto, sepan que Jehová ciertamente distinguirá al que le es leal; Jehová mismo oirá cuando yo clame a él” (Sal. 4:3). Sin duda, para permanecer fieles a Dios hacen falta valor y fe firme. Estas cualidades son muy necesarias, por ejemplo, cuando un miembro de la familia comete un pecado, no se arrepiente y tiene que ser expulsado. Pero quienes son leales a Jehová y respetan sus disposiciones gozan de su bendición. Además, al actuar con fidelidad y demostrar confianza absoluta en Dios, contribuyen a que reine el gozo entre su pueblo (Sal. 84:11, 12). 18 Ahora bien, ¿qué podemos hacer si alguien nos ofende con sus acciones o palabras? Lograremos mantener el gozo si seguimos este consejo de David: “Agítense, pero no pequen. Digan lo que quieran en su corazón, sobre su cama, y callen” (Sal. 4:4). Si nos han hablado o tratado con poca bondad, no caigamos en el pecado de desquitarnos (Rom. 12:17-19). Podemos irnos a la cama y decir lo que queramos en nuestro interior. Al hablar del asunto con Jehová, tal vez lo veamos desde otro ángulo y nos sintamos impulsados a perdonar por amor (1 Ped. 4:8). Cabe destacar que el apóstol Pablo dio el siguiente consejo, al parecer tomando como base Salmo 4:4: “Estén airados, y, no obstante, no pequen; que no se ponga el sol estando ustedes en estado provocado, ni dejen lugar para el Diablo” (Efe. 4:26, 27). Salmo 84:11, 12 Porque Jehová Dios es sol y escudo; favor y gloria son lo que él da.
