Monday, September 29: Being Faithful To be faithful to someone is to be loyal. After all is said and done, its a simple matter of making and keeping promises. One of the most important questions I have to answer is this: to whom am I faithful? Ideally, Im faithful to God, to myself, my wife, children, and grandchild, extended family, church family, community, and the world, in general. Being faithful to God establishes how I relate: I am called to love myself in a healthy and holistic way, and to love others in the same manner that I love myself. This love of self and others arises from my belief and understanding that God is faithful, and loves me unconditionally. That is my starting, as well as my ending point, and covers everything in between. My task today and always is to stay within the lines and be faithful. If I break my promises to others, I let down not only them, but myself, as well. Once loyalty begins to erode, relationships suffer and others get hurt, including me.
