Monday, September 29th Last week was an extraordinary week for Brittan! He is one week out from his bone flap replacement surgery and everything is going perfectly! Thank you, Lord, for continuing to bless Brittan with healing and progress! Brit spent one night in the ICU and was able to go right back to the neuro rehab unit Saturday evening! He did experience some pain and swelling the next few days, but hit the ground running with therapy on Monday morning! He is doing remarkably well, and had the best 3 days of therapy to-date! The physicians and therapists are all very pleased with his progress. And - thanks to your prayers - Brit is holding his head up very well during therapy! Brit was also blessed with a very special visitor last week - Derek Holland came for a visit on Wednesday! Through a new family friend (Mike Moore), Derek heard about Brits story and took the time to come visit and encourage Brit (and us)! Derek and his friend, Jack Callahan, spent over an hour with our family celebrating Brits progress and, of course, talking a little baseball! It was truly an amazing experience for our family ... we know Derek is a fantastic pitcher and baseball player, but he is also a fantastic and very sincere person. Special people tend to surround themselves with other special people ... and Dereks friend, Jack, was also a blessing to our hearts! Jack has a heart as big as Texas and he is passing that sweet spirit on to his son as well! Jack shared a story with us about talking to his children about Brit and Brits current situation. Upon hearing about Brit, Jace (Jacks sweet 5 year old son) announced to his daddy that he wanted to give Brit one of the signed cleats Derek had recently given him. He told his daddy, I dont need two shoes, I want to give one to Brittan. What a precious heart he has! We continue to be amazed by the love, support, and acts of generosity from our family, friends, community, and new friends made during this journey. Gods love is displayed to us each and everyday ... it is overwhelming! Please continue to pray for complete restoration and healing for Brit! He is working very hard, and is finding strength and endurance to complete more tasks each day. Brit will have a CT scan next week to check on the bone flap replacement. Please pray that the CT scan results are positive (we expect a great report) and also pray that we continue to be infection-free post surgery! Thank you for your prayers, Danl, Angie, Alyssa and Brittan Philippians 4:13 #prayforBC
