Monday morning and I am struggling to get out of my bug tent. My - TopicsExpress

Monday morning and I am struggling to get out of my bug tent. My tummy and hearing the children singing is motivating me. I hear Angela outside trying to coax Sheba, the cat off of the dozer. Guess it’s time to get dressed. One of the dozer guys came to the door. John walked up the road with him to show them where to put the road. The dozer wasn’t far behind. It’s bones were rattling slowly up the hill. I hope it can actually move something. Angela noticed a little girl named Sefa walking up the road in front of the house. She is almost 2 and was all by herself. It is hard to see little kids like that all alone for the day. She must have heard the tractor. I went up to the house to see the progress and they are still painting the trim around the doors and now tiling the kitchen floor. I wish they were done so we could move up. It does seem cooler up there. I went down to the school for their breakfast break. The little kids kept saying my name over and over so I would reply “what” in their language. I must have butchered it because they thought it was hysterical. I must have heard my name 50 times this morning. They are all filthy and adorable. There was a group at the well. They would fill a jug of water and put a stick through the handle then several of them would hold on to the stick to carry it up to class. The teachers handed out tooth brushes and after brushing it was back to class. Sefa the little girl who was out wandering alone was in the kitchen after they left. I asked Phiona, our Medical Clinical Officer what her story was. Sefa is Solomon’s sister. Their Mom goes out into the field all day working and her kids just fend for themselves. Angela asked if she could keep her, but I’m sure taking their children would be frowned upon otherwise we would have taken a few already. She is a sweet little thing. John came down from watching the dozer. I think he would do better if he was operating it himself. He explains everything, they say they understand then do it differently. Working in another culture can be frustrating at times. John really wants to save the big trees on the property but they would like to mow them down even if they are not in the way. He came back down, by the way, because the track came off the dozer. It lasted 2 hours and was moving some dirt so I guess that’s progress. Little Richard is still not here today so Josephine our clinic assistant is going to check on him on the way home. I hope he is ok. His living conditions are very poor and he lives with elderly grandparents. He is another one I would gladly keep.
