Monday morning coffee/couch thoughts as it storms outside- saw several youngsters at the roping this weekend which reminded me of things we tell so many that have ridden/roped with us: you cant overlook horsemanship ( parents- take the time/effort to teach kids to ride before you put them on a barrel horse, rope in their hand etc), learn to practice right not necessarily more(take criticism and grow from it, ask questions, there is always more to learn) learn to go( yep, just putting them in a trailer and getting there isnt all there is to it) learn to compete( mental preparation is so vital as is reading the setup) then learn to win. Hard to skip the steps. Dogs are scared, horses are wired, but the storm continues. Have a great one,all!!!
