Monday morning life lesson... If you ask someone to met you for coffee to discuss your plans, or to share / support your project on-line and they are unable to dont think their saying no means they are not generous or supportive towards others. In my case, Ive learnt that saying no is very difficult ( we all want to be liked and please people, yes?) but VITAL if I am to support the others in my life who also rely on me, and ensure I am whole and happy. So for context ( not to justify my choices - they dont need justifying but I do feel this might be helpful in offering broader perspectives): Im a single Mum to two adorable kids who I prioritise spending any spare time with. I have fourteen team members across two companies I need to nurture and mentor. I have two charities I donate my time to, and actively support. I am currently almost finished my next book, and pitching / planning another. I run Enlighten and Goodfellas. Combined we work with over 25,000 teens each year across three countries. I have a sweet little dog who loves to be walked. I have the most amazing friends I enjoy giggling with and need to make time to hang with them. So - hearing another say No may well be a sign of sanity and a great lesson for you to learn early on as you too may need to say it too one day if you are to truly thrive!
