Monday will see the anniversary of the day I stood on the scales - TopicsExpress

Monday will see the anniversary of the day I stood on the scales and thought enough. I set a target weight in my head which equated to 5 1/2 stone weight loss. I knew this was ambitious but Id seen the amazing things others had done - especially Gordon Mackie and David Alexander who were a real inspiration. Yes, I wanted to do this for holiday time but the real target was within a year. Since then Ive had an ankle injury, fallen off the wagon a couple of times (due to holidays) and also had a gallbladder operation that took me out of exercise for 4 weeks but today I stood on the scales and met that target. People know I was never unhappy about my size at any point but the turning point were thoughts about the future and the ability/limitations that being a certain weight and size would bring. This wont be the end of my journey as Ive made changes to my lifestyle and habits that will stick. I have a new target now in my head which isnt about weight but goes back to what I primarily thought about - ability. I want to prove, to myself, that I can run. I dont think Ive ever run, not properly anyway. So my aim now is to do a 5 (who knows maybe 10)k run by this time next year assuming my ankle holds up. Thanks everyone for your kind words of encouragement throughout. I didnt plan to do updates like this originally but as times gone on it really, really has helped me maintain focus at difficult times so thank you. Finally thanks to Gwen Hamilton who has put up with my stupid need to plan what we are eating and for being my Gym partner (most of the time :)). Now thats done, I hope I dont feel too guilty enjoying the next few days of naughtiness. BRING US THE WHISKY!!
