Mondays Melodic Memories: Lady In Red, Chris DeBurgh - I have - TopicsExpress

Mondays Melodic Memories: Lady In Red, Chris DeBurgh - I have always been a crooner. From my earliest days in the school choir, my voice has always excelled in those places where I could sing a soft love song or some rich choral piece with a nice melody. I tried to be a rock/grunge guy for a couple of years, but it just wasnt me. And both of my parents would have it no other way. In fact, it was at my dads urging that I finally decided to do a Love Songs & Ballads concert in my hometown. For Dad, it was hearing the Chris Deburgh song Lady In Red that made him think of me on stage singing while a pretty lady in a red dress was on the other side reading an old love letter. After Dad placed that idea in my head, it got my wheels spinning, and I started down a road toward putting together a really fun night that incorporated a slide show, a childrens choir, several guest vocalists, and a million hours at Mike Blessings house rehearsing. It was mostly just Mike playing piano and me singing. My cousin Brad filled in on percussion on about half the songs, as well. To make Dads concept complete, I was able to convince the sister of the girl I was dating at time to join me onstage for Lady In Red. Im not sure Jackie was all for it at first, but eventually she agreed and was amazing! She looked perfect, and flawlessly played the part of an old lover reminiscing. My hope is that enough people were mesmerized by Jackie to take the attention away from me trying to hit those stratospheric notes during the chorus. I dont recall any boos...so well done, Jackie! https://youtube/watch?v=iFcuN2zI3u0
