“Money Talk: A Financial Course for Women,” will be offered in Fort Dodge beginning Tuesday February 18, sponsored by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. The series will continue weekly through March 25, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Topics will include Reaching Financial Goals, Financial Security, both short-term and long-term, Insurance Essentials, Creditworthiness, Investment Fundamentals, and Estate Planning and Legal Issues. Sessions will be non-commercial, conducted by Barb Wollan, Extension Family Finance Specialist and by local professionals, using materials developed by Extension specialists at the state and national level. The registration fee (normally $75) has been reduced to $40, thanks to generous support from the Second District Chapter of Credit Unions, which includes Citizens Community Credit Union, Fort Dodge Family Credit Union, Frontier Community Credit Union, Peoples Credit Union, Power Coop Credit Union, and Webster City Municipal Credit Union. Each participant will receive a 192-page informational workbook. The workshops will be held at the Webster County Extension Office, located at Crossroads Mall in Fort Dodge. Women face special challenges in building life-long financial security; this workshop series provides an opportunity to gain key information, ask questions, and build confidence in making the best financial decisions for their needs. Register by February 13 by calling Webster County Extension, 515-576-2119.
