Monsanto hosted a sustainability conference here in Saint Louis - TopicsExpress

Monsanto hosted a sustainability conference here in Saint Louis two years ago, and I could not resist attending. Of everything that was presented, what I found most interesting was a researcher claiming that the solution to food shortage was to increase sprawl and localize food production to anywhere and eveywhere. English was obviously his second or third language, and he was interrupted by an interpreter who insisted that the researcher had meant to make the opposite claim. This interpreter said that the whole purpose of cities was to bring people closer together, and that spreading out would be counter-productive. I found this highly curious. Here is an eco-friendly project called Primeval Symbiosis submitted to the international architectural design competition, aiming to escape the saturation of 20th century city-scapes with new urban sprawl of self-sufficient structures in future architecture. This is expected to prevent meaningless deforestation in many parts of the world. behance.net/gallery/Special-Mention-Primeval-Symbiosis-Single-Pole-House/10913389
