Monsanto is a threat to the environment because GMO foods are an innate threat to biodiversity, which, in ecological terms, equates to the strength of ecosystems. Monsanto is a threat to humankind because: 1) Humankind is part of the environment and depends on it. 2) The centralisation of food production is a threat to the food security of local communities-- an inherent threat to autonomy. 3) Monsanto leaves humanity’s food supply at the whim of a corporation, the primary purpose of which is profit, and not the livelihood of you, or the indigenous EZLN in the mountains of Chiapas. The strategic architecture behind #opmonsanto A global civilian movement is necessary to halt Monsanto’s business practices. The purpose of this civilian movement would be to: 1) Protect the direct action sector of this movement 2) Give the movement credibility as a whole 3) Serve as the mouthpiece for the movement, communicating effectively with the media while avoiding reprisals, and giving the general populace a framerwork in which they can participate. 4) Justify the actions of the direct action sector. 5) Use the leverage of the direct action sector to reach compromises where possible, and to analyze the information unearthed by the direct action sector. While a civilian movement is necessary, it will not alone be able to bring monsanto to a halt, for the following reasons: 1) A civilian movement would come to a grinding halt after they see that their pickets and protest arent triggering any visible change. 2) The civilian movement would not have the necessary information (obtained via leaks, infiltrations) in order to expose monsanto to the required extent to achieve change. 3) The civilian movement would get tied up in the courts, without the ability to do any serious damage to the monsanto (nor the image thereof) nor inflict any profit loss. Thus, it is evident that the direct action sector is needed. The direct action sector can be segregated into the following parts: 1) The electronic division 2) The physical division (encompassing property destruction, sabotage, infiltration, etc) The electronic division will organise electronic attacks and propogate information regarding monsanto throughout the internet. The attacks will come in the form of hacks, taken in order to obtain information later to be used by the civilian movement. DDoS attacks are also useful, as they tend to impress the media, and in conjunction with a manifesto and instructions on how to join the civilian movement, can advertise this effort to the mass populace. Furthermore, DDoS attacks on the mail servers of monsanto will have the ability to cripple their communication. The physical division will be able to halt the development of genetically modified foods, by taking direct action (sabotage and the like) to impede the growth of monsanto, and to hinder its profit gains. A perfect example of this would be the actions taken in France by angry farmers, where they were able to burn monsanto crops, neutralizing whole feilds. Tactical Architecture: The electronic division needs to root the monsanto smtp servers, and leak all the company emails. This is paramount, as this will provide the bearings for future actions. Also, the electronic division must set up a webside analogous to that of avaaz.org for the civilian movement to use, and propogate it through the internet. A .tk domain name and free hosting is not favorable-- paid hosting would be great. Also, the electronic division will need to provide a medium of secure communication, preferably an i2p eepsite, allowing the physical direct action sector to plan their actions. So, to recapitulate, the electronic division needs to: 1) provide a www website for the civilian movement to organise itself. 2) provide a secure communications medium for the direct action sector (physical) of this movement (encrypted irc or SILK server on i2p). 3)Make a video and flyers for #opmonsanto once the above two are done. 4)DDoS the main monsanto domain, hack/deface some of their hosts/sites , and hack their smtp. Civilian movement will need to: 1) pass ordinances giving autonomy to local farmers, and some sort of judicial immunity against monsanto’s lawsuits. CELDF will help. 2) rallies, fundraisers, protest; the common jazz. 3) justify itself in the eyes of the media, and propagate its conclusions/vision throughout the consciousness of the mass populace. 4) support sustainable, organic, autonomous farming. The physical direct action sector will need to: 1) physically impede monsanto’s expansion through the use of frequent blockades, lockdowns, and sabotage. 2) inflict serious profit loss to monsanto using all and any means necessary. 3 physically resist their business practices, making the demands of the civilian movement look feasible. Misc: 1)Security should be set up so that there is minimal migration between the direct action sector and the civilian sector, as this will lead to people being caught by authorities through associative information, etc. 2)It is rumored that there will be a wiki set up for the distribution of leaked information from monsanto, a all in one reference place. (although useful, its not functional in the same way as an analogous avaaz.org)
