Monsoon’s here Better quality: indianaturewatch.net/displayimage.php?id=422839 My friend and myself were tired of being in the city spite of recently visiting bandipur a week before and so we planned to make a visit to any forest. Then after so many regrets we settled down with Valparai, even though weather reports state thunder storms for the next one month. We set our targets, which were Frogs, Nilgiri Tahr & the Great pied hornbill. As we moved through the forests looking out for streams and explored few too, and this image was made from one of those, from a very slippery terrain hanging tightly to avoid pushing my camera’s life at risk and drenching myself in the huge stream below after an 8-10ft drop. I’d say the image was a joint effort, my friend helping out by protecting my gear with an umbrella and directing the spot light towards the frog with his other hand. I’m very happy that I made this image in this challenging circumstance. Later after making few images, there came the Ranger of the forest. We had some interesting conversation and he asked us to move away from the location, so we did! Hence the one and only frog I photographed in Valparai. Bronzed frog, Valparai (TN), June 2013.
