Monsters University Review I saw this movie with my brother at the Piccadilly Cinema in the city. Let me describe the movie experience. It was a bit old fashioned and looked classy, with red curtains and lots of movie posters in frames. A good thing was that the ticket area and the snacks were combined so you didn’t have to que twice but the line progressed slower because of it being joined. The room was sort of small but had a homely feel about it. There was a short film at the start called ‘The Blue Umbrella’. It was quite fitting for winter and was a bit emotional to watch at times. After the short film Monsters University started. It starts off with a bunch of monster kids going on a field trip to Monsters Inc. Mike goes into a door to watch a monster in action. After he comes out he tells him, “I didn’t even see you in there.” Mike get the monster’s hat and from then on realises he wants to work there. Soon he joins the university to learn to become a scarer. His roommate is a purple monster called Randle who can turn invisible. Sully Sullivan is a favourite to do well because of who his father is. Mike and Sully start off as rivals but when they both don’t get in to be accepted by the university, Mike sees he has a chance left by entering these games where the winner is known as the most scariest monster but Dean Heartscrabble, voiced by Helen Mirren, who is a dragon lady with the bottom half of a centipede, tells Mike that if his team, Oozma Kappa wins then him and everyone on the team would be accepted to be a scarer. They are one member short so Sully says he’ll feel that spot and reluctantly Mike accepts. In the 1st round the team is almost out when by a miracle they survive because another team cheated and get disqualified. Eventually Omega and Oozma Kappa are the last 2 teams left and we see how the rivalry between Sully and Randle starts. Sully did something to give Mike a chance to be a great scarer but once he figures it out after the tests, he decides to go into the real world and discovers he’s not as scary as he thought. Sully joins him in there and then the door is sealed from the Monster’s world. Once they are trapped inside there is one way to get out but Sully doesn’t know if he’s got it in him. Will the 2 monsters get out of the real world? By the way, the animation of the real world is unbelievable. Billy Crystal voices Mike and John Goodman does Sully. There was also a lot of comedy in the film. Overall I give it 4 out of 5 stars. True Christians: A good family movie, good for both the young and old alike.
