Montmartre is opening a worldwide jazz television channel in HD. Thursday Jazzhus Montmartre inaugurates a new TV channel on the web that begins transmitting selected jazz concerts in HD to jazz fans worldwide from the historic jazzclub at Store Regnegade in the heart of Copenhagen . After tryouts with live streaming there’s now buried optical fiber cables into Montmartre, mounted four HD cameras (including robotic ) and adapted a small producer room at the old club . The premiere on Thursday is with the French jazz violinist Didier Lockwood and the American star - pianist Christian Sands. Until New Year it is free to watch if you make an "all-you -can-eat" subscription for 2014. - The goal is to expand, virtually, the number of spectators in our small intimate cultural institution so that jazz lovers from Chicago, Silkeborg , Esbjerg and Tokyo can look in and see the world class artists hitherto reserved the mere 85 guests, we physically accommodate, says Rune Bech, head of Montmartre and himself a former manager at TV 2 The aim is to strengthen the economy of Montmartre by selling virtual tickets over the internet. The jazz club is run as an independent non-profit institution and is therefore heavily dependent on resources other than the 85 tickets that can be sold . An annual subscription will cost 699,- dkk , while a single concert can be purchased for 69 dkk, either live or on demand. But in the three months until the New Year, it is free if you subscribe for 2014, says Rune Bech . - We would like to emphasize that the production quality is top notch because people should be able to expect the finest. We have professional TV people to install and commission the equipment to ensure that our viewers get an experience of the highest quality. All cameras are of the highest quality with a particular sensitivity to capture detail in even mood lighting and we emphasize that the equipment is totally quiet so it does not interfere with either artists or audience. The sound is transmitted in stereo directly from the mixing console in a concert space with one of the best danish sound engineers Mik Neumann behind, says Rune Bech. Montmartre is also currently looking for a culture sponsor who would like to get its logo exposed at the beginning of all transmissions as an extra support income to Montmartre operation. In addition to live streaming of concerts, jazz lovers will also able to access a library of previous concerts to be seen on demand. The new jazz television channel can be visited at jazzhusmontmartre.dk from Thursday 19 September 2013 kl. 19.30 .
