Montreal will always hold a very precious corner in my heart. It was the place where I became free of many demons, where I saw my creativity explode, where I found my true passions in life, where I found the spirituality I had always ran away from. It was the city where I learned to appreciate the beauty of change in the seasons, where I worked jobs that taught me a side of life I had never experienced, where I met some of the most wonderful human beings I have ever met, and even if I have lost contact with some of them, I always remember them with a smile on my face and warmth in my heart. I will love them forever. Montreal was the city where I learned how much cold a human being can take and how wonderful it is to hear a birdy singing after many months of white winter. Most of the Montrealers I met while I was living there were kind hearted, decent and/or highly educated fellows who would always lend a helping hand. They were curious about Colombia and not only once I was reminded of the bad reputation of my country by a Montrealer. When I said Colombia, Montrealers said salsa, beautiful men and women and spanish is a beautiful language. In three years, only once I was asked if I was a drug smuggler just because I was Colombian, and the guy was obviously an American visitor who thought his joke was funny. But Montrealers know better; they have a smarter sense of humor. In short, Montreal is the best kept secret. I would move back in a heart beat, even in spite of the winter.
