Montserrat is a multi-peaked mountain located near the city of Barcelona, in Catalonia, Spain. It has the famous cult of the Virgin of Montserrat, popularly known as `La Moreneta´ or Black Madonna because of the dark stone from which she is sculpted. The `Moreneta´ is housed in the Benedictine abbey that has become world famous because of its boys choir and school of music. You can reach this magnificent site by car, train, or by bus and enjoy a spectacular funicular ride straight up the steep mountainside.
