Mood: Bummed out, feeling ripped off.... I had plans to attend - TopicsExpress

Mood: Bummed out, feeling ripped off.... I had plans to attend the recent Grand Rapids Comic Con earlier this month. It was a new convention which had a far larger turnout than what was expected, or which the convention site could accommodate. Reports say twice as many people were turned away as were able to make it inside. A month prior to the convention, I contacted and made arrangements by email with one of the attending artists, a Kevin Meinert, to get a piece of original art drawn for $80. I was supposed to pay for and pick up the drawing at the convention. Unfortunately, due to the large size of the crowd and the small size of the convention location, I was one of a couple thousand attendees who never made it inside the convention. Lucky for me, Kevin Meinert contacted me after the convention suggesting we complete the transaction by mail. Over the course of four emails in three days, we discussed the unfortunate problem of the convention overcrowding, the drawing itself after Kevin sent me a photo of the drawing, and the Paypal payment details. Then I sent Kevin Meinert the payment by Paypal. Since sending the payment (sent under the friends and family option so he would not be stuck with any fees), I have not heard a peep from Kevin. No confirmation that he received the payment.... No notice that the drawing has been mailed.... No reply to my email inquiry..... Considering that the photo of the drawing was sent from his phone, his inability to send a simple email just seems very strange. Maybe I am just too used to interacting with mature and considerate people.
