Moodys Mood for Love by Eddie Jefferson (August 3, 1918 - May 9, 1979) Eddie Jefferson lends his vocal talent to the 1956 recording of James Moodys classic remake of the Frances Langford classic Im In The Mood For Love. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native Eddie Jefferson established himself as an innovator of vocalese, a singing style which is set the instrumental arrangement, citing his major influence as Leo Watson. Among his best known recordings were So What combining the lyrics of Christopher Acemandese Hall with the music of Miles Davis, and Moodys Mood for Love backed by saxophonist James Moody and his band. On May 8, 1979 while leavening a Detroit club with another bandleader Eddie Jefferson was shot dead by an unknown assailant who was later determined to be a disgruntled dancer he had recently fired.
