Moot Court Association - Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia GNLU International Maritime Academy 2015 [Feb 28-March 7]: Apply by Feb 16 Date : Saturday 28 February, 7 March 2015 GNLU Centre for Public International Law has a legacy in organizing various noble events in the field of Maritime Law to disseminate knowledge among various stakeholders. To further such a gallant endeavor, GNLU is pleased to inform you that GNLU Centre for Public International Law, is organizing a ‘GNLU International Maritime Academy 2015’. Modern shipowners and operators, and vessel officers, are subjected to increasingly detailed and rigorously enforced environmental, security, safety, and political (embargos/sanctions) regulations and requirements. The consequences for non-compliance with these regulations, even if unintentional, can be disruptive to operations and costly. And in some cases, the consequences can be catastrophic. The Academy offers participants the chance to meet like-minded professionals in a sympathetic but nonetheless demanding academic atmosphere in which valuable professional knowledge will be gained. Aim: To equip participants with theoretical and practical legal, operational strategic issues enabling them to render efficient and effective research, advisory, policy and operational assistance to authorities of navy and maritime forces, agencies, institutions, industry. Objectives: 1. To provide knowledge on contemporary and advance issues and practices of the law of the sea and maritime laws in an intensive manner; 2. To discuss, analyse and forecast the state practice on the law of the sea and maritime laws and future operational challenges and issues at officers level; 3. To acquire understanding on the issues and challenges on the law of the sea and maritime laws in major seafaring nations Duration: Saturday 28 February, 7 March 2015, three sessions per day, each of 2 hours. Methodology: Lectures (including video lectures), Workshops, Seminar and Documentary, Presentation by Participant/Participants. Each candidate will be required to undertake 500 pages additional self-study in advance prior to commencement of the course. Faculty: Faculty will consist of renowned professors, experts, senior navy officers, judges. Evaluation: 100 Marks Course-End Exam (50 marks – Multiple Choice Questions; 50 marks – five analytical long answers) Study material: Each candidate will be provided with reading material consisting of essential laws, research articles, reports and case-law abstracts and a book on law of the sea and maritime laws. GNLU will also circulate study material in advance prior to commencement of the course. Fees: INR 20,000 / USD 400 (including registration, tuition fee, study material, field visits, cultural visits, exams, lodging and boarding) Batch-size: 40-50 participants Eligibility: a) Serving officer of any Maritime Security Agency, b) Officer from the Port, Shipping and Company, c) Practitioner, Researcher and Scholar of the related field.
