Moot Court Association , Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia Notification: 2nd Annual Media, Advertising & Entertainment Legal Summit 2013 Lex Witness is proud to present the 2nd Annual Edition of Media, Advertising & Entertainment Legal Summit. Date: 20th September, 2013 Venue: Hotel Le Méridien, New Delhi The Indian Media, Advertising and Entertainment Industry has seen tremendous growth to emerge as one of the most competent industry sectors in the global market. However, along with the growth patterns it has witnessed there have been various regulations that bring about a new set of business challenges. For any year now there is yet no clarity on the practical and commercial implications of amendments to the Copyright Act 2012. The signing of Beijing Treaty for Audio Visual Performance and compliance of current copyright act with the treaty needs further analysis as well as lacks a direction. There is an urgent need for all stakeholders to have a clear picture on the true nature of the amended copyright act on a number of issues that include commissioned works, assignment of copyrights, DRM, protection of moral rights, dissemination over digital rights to name a few. Nonetheless, the most perplexing issue that needs addressing is related to royalty, its payment and distribution. Regulatory changes have made it difficult to sustain for the existing business ecosystems, with expected revenue squeeze with Ad caps, high carriage fees and below par subscription revenues. To ensure an immediate change in the business sense, the current differences between LCO, MSO & Broadcasters need urgent resolution. Furthermore, the process of regulation regarding content and over objectionable advertisement for TV, Radio and internet too falls under grey area and has no apex body to monitor. Summit Focus: Decoding implications of The Copyright Amendment Act 2012 Understanding & Interpreting impacts of the new Royalty Payments aspect on businesses Implications of the Competition Act on the Media & Entertainment Industry Common contractual problems and best practices for managing them Vis a vis Industry practice and regulations passed Registration: maels2013/register.php Contact: Ms. Neelima Maheshwari Phone: 08800841600 Email: [email protected] Ms. Bhupinder Kaur Phone: 09654155065< Email: [email protected] Ms. Pushpmeet Nanda Phone: 08130920620 Email: [email protected] Mr. Akshay Alagh Phone: 09899332111, 09899332440 Email: [email protected] Lex Witness B 1/6, Lower Ground Floor, Hauz Khas, New Delhi - 110016 Phone: 011-43440000 Fax: 011-43440099 Email: [email protected] Website: maels2013/
