More Answers About Watering Your Lawn Many people have asked me for more specific answers about watering their lawn. I have written two articles about watering and you can look them up on my Facebook page at Reliable Lawn Care. First the seasonal adjustment feature. I generally set it at 50% for April/May, 60% or 70% in June and then to 90% or 100% in July. Second, if you are using an oscillating sprinkler one hour will average about ½ inch of watering. If you are using an impact sprinkler you will need about two or three hours for the same ½ inch depending on how large an area you are watering. Third, for your automatic sprinkler systems if part of your lawn is in the shade I reduce the time by about 1/3 (i.e. rotary sprinklers from one hour to forty minutes). Water your flower beds for twenty minutes because those sprinklers are generally spray nozzles. Remember that these are general rules. I have some lawns already at 100% and others at 60%. The actual weather and your lawns condition will determine what you should do for your watering needs.
