More Kauri trees will be planted in NZ thanks to Dianna Rivers, Paula Ann Signal and their friends. In December 2013 and January 2014 Dianna “Didee” Rivers and Paula ‘Rere” Ann Signal took on the challenge of raising funds for one of their favourite organisations, Kauri 2000 a non-profit charitable trust that has so far planted over 40,000 kauri trees on the Coromandel Peninsula. Using the Rainforest Connections website, together they raised $1,130 in six weeks by asking their family and friends to sponsor the planting of kauri trees in New Zealand, the land of their birth. Another 56 trees can now be planted by Kauri 2000 who will be caring for the trees for up to five years to ensure they become established. Didee and Rere would like to say a gigantic thank you to all who participated in their Plant a Kauri Tree project. Over the hundreds and thousands of years to come, the kauri trees will grow be giants in the forests of New Zealand.
