More MSNBC misinformation. Rachel Maddow just said that Super Tuesday (the biggest primary of the presidential election season) started in 1988. Not so, It started in 1976. I was a page at NBC that year and we got election assignments on that Tuesday to help with the network coverage. I remember standing in the wings of the studio where Jimmy Carter was waiting to go on (hed won big that Super Tuesday) and I said to him, Governor, I hope youll do OK by the gay people. He flashed that nervous grin of his and said, Well, OK. OK, I will! Cant say that he did as president, but our leaders got their first meeting in the White House under him. (He wasnt at the meeting. It was led by Midge Costanza who only came out later.)
