More Opportunities to Give Input on Future Facilities Use Options for NPS: If you were not able to attend one of the two public forums last week, two additional sessions are now scheduled - Thursday, Feb. 20, 4:30-6 p.m. at Maury High School, and also Feb. 20 from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. at Ruffner Academy. Also, a questionnaire is open until midnight tonight at npsk12/refreshnps, where you may also see the presentation and all of the materials. Since July 2013, DeJONG-RICHTER, an Ohio-based firm that specializes in educational facilities planning, has been working with Norfolk Public Schools and a representative Steering Committee to study NPS school facilities usage, enrollment trends, educational programming, and Norfolk demographic projections. The Steering Committee named the study Refresh NPS: Connecting Community to Education. As the study nears completion, DeJONG-RICHTER is gathering additional community feedback, this time on a series of draft, future scenarios for NPS, in preparation for its final report to the School Board. Parents, students, NPS staff members and citizens who are concerned about high-quality educational offerings for children, wise, efficient use of school buildings, and school attendance zones are strongly encouraged to attend one of the Feb. 20 sessions and to give feedback at npsk12/refreshnps.
